Over on the RRR site Top Billin’ has posted their Top 10 Australian Hip Hop music videos for 2009, i’d swap some for others as you’d expect but that’s not to say his choices are any less valid, you should support all those artists. Not sure if this just Sheriff Rosco’s Top 10 or what? guys?
Checking it out i got stuck in a YouTube Blackhole, searching and collating. Before i knew i had a YouTube playlist of all the Aussie Hip Hop music videos i could find that’d been released this year, i started wondering what to do with it. The first choice is obvious, a poll to see which is the best aussie hip hop music video from 2009, what comes next i’m still not sure. I think over the course of the year i might sticky post the Top 10 videos on the site, 1 each month and the winner take the title of “Voted #1 Music Video 2009 @ Rhythm & Poetry”.

The Thundamentals heat up the digital distribution space being what I believe is the first Australian Hip Hop artist/group to put up an iTunes Live release (correct me in the comments if i’m wrong). The 6 track release can be purchased from the iTunes Music Store for a little over $10 AUD and i assume will be an exclusive to iTunes release, like the rest of the iTunes Live content.

The Hilltop Hoods drop the next video clip from their recent album State of The Art, The Light You Burned feat. Trials. The video clip features a very sweet cartoon style that seems to be an evolution of what was used in the video for Clown Prince. According to the lads Facebook posts, this animated clip was inspired by cartoons of old, especially the works of Hanna-Barbera. It’ll take you back to a time when cartoons were an artform, drawing inspiration from the likes of The Jetsons, Magilla Gorilla and The Flintstones.
You can grab the Hilltop Hoods latest album State of The Art from iTunes now, also available is the Still Standing EP, which contains instrumentals and remixes of Still Standing.
