Brisbane’s The Optimen are dropping another Australia Hip Hop outfit dropping a new album, according to Red Tape Entertainment:

production is NUTS! Raps is CRAZY! Full of more ill joints than Michael J Fox, marfucker!

While they may not have been my exact choice of words, i’m sure this is going to be another fine mark on the Australian Hip Hop release timeline just like Boomtown. The Optimen’s album The Out Of Money Experience is due for release sometime in April 10th on Red Tape Entertainment; it was set to be distributed through Shogun Distribution, but now will be handled by Inertia.

You can catch a sample of the album by checking out the free single Firefighters and also checkout their MySpace for some newer tracks, including one featuring Lazy Grey and now you can pre-order the Out of Money Experience at JB-Hifi.

The Gold Coast’s M-Phazes drops his debut album titled Good Gracious on February 25th.  If you don’t know who M-Phazes is, you’ve been living under a rock for far too long.  M-Phazes is doing what everyone in australian hip hop wishes they could, breaking the US market, while still calling Australia home.  I was gonna start listing his production credits, but it’s seriously just too much; you can head to his MySpace and see a list of stuff he’s worked on.  Follow through to read more about M-Phazes – Good Gracious or grab it on itunes.

The Thundamentals heat up the digital distribution space being what I believe is the first Australian Hip Hop artist/group to put up an iTunes Live release (correct me in the comments if i’m wrong).  The 6 track release can be purchased from the iTunes Music Store for a little over $10 AUD and i assume will be an exclusive to iTunes release, like the rest of the iTunes Live content.

The Hilltop Hoods let a bit of info out via Twitter this morning.  The information? well it seems after leaving Obese they’ve managed to keep/hold onto/get back the rights to the albums they released while signed to Obese.  The upside of this is that now they’re free to reissue those releases and they’re doing just that.

On Friday 13th November 2009, we made our way to the Rosemount for a hip hop gig, Able was launching his new 5-Track EP. A great night was had, some great tunes were played and an EP was released.

Able’s new EP Ice Cream Won’t Save You is a must hear release, if you haven’t heard this yet I suggest you get out and have a listen as this is not your normal Australian Hip Hop sound.  There’s a very interesting sound for Hip Hop brewing over here on the west coast of Australia and Able is one of the guys stirring the brew alongside other members of The Community.
