Sydney artist Phatchance is set to drop his debut album Inkstains next Friday, the 20th of November, Chance contacted me and eventually after a discussion it was decided he’d send me a copy of Inkstains to listen too and i’d give him my thoughts and some promo via this blog (it really is that easy). I’ll be clear though, i’m not bought these are my thoughts un-edited, un-compromised.

Chasm & Vida-Sunshyne are set to release a debut album (at least for Vida-Sunshyne) on Obese Records on October 23rd. This should be an interesting step in the Australian Hip-Hop scene as the from previews and the mixtape (details below) it looks to be shaping up to be a very ragga influenced sounding album.

Horroshow (Solo & Adit) are preparing to drop their sophmore album Inside Story this Friday on October 2nd via Elefant Traks. Judging by the tracks which you can catch over at MySpace, this album is just exactly what we’ve come to expect from the Horrorshow crew after the auditory awesome that was The Grey Space. If anyones to thank for making things sound different in Aussie Hip Hop this year, it’s the Elefant Traks camp, so don’t sleep on their releases this year. You can also check out their single Thoughtchrime (Doin’ My Think) online now.

Will this be the last release from a Certified Wise artist on Obese Records or via Obese Distribution? only time will tell i suppose, but I’m willing to go out on a limb and say yes, feel free to proove to me or tell me I’m wrong. The new album from Adelaide’s Cross Bred Mongrels titled Certified Wise has been produced by DJ Debris who actually used to be a fully fledged Cross Bred Mongrel prior to joining the Hilltop Hoods. The album looks be another defining point in what i would consider to be the rawer side of the Certified Wise crew and i guess could explain why the credits for State of The Art never mentioned Cross Bred Productions/Studios.

Urthboy has put his new album Spitshine on MySpace for all to hear and preview prior to it’s release next Friday (28th August) on Elefant Traks. It’s just another smooth and simple marketing move from a man that seems to understand the way music marketing works in the digital age of 2009. The marketing hit for the album has been going on for at least 2 months now slowly winding up to next week, it all seems so simple too, but it works. I’m not sure how long this is going to be up there for, so i suggest you get your mouse and headphones over to Urthboy’s MySpace and listen to Spitshine.
