Urthboy has put his new album Spitshine on MySpace for all to hear and preview prior to it’s release next Friday (28th August) on Elefant Traks. It’s just another smooth and simple marketing move from a man that seems to understand the way music marketing works in the digital age of 2009. The marketing hit for the album has been going on for at least 2 months now slowly winding up to next week, it all seems so simple too, but it works. I’m not sure how long this is going to be up there for, so i suggest you get your mouse and headphones over to Urthboy’s MySpace and listen to Spitshine.

Who are Gully Platoon? Gully Platoon is a new group of artists from the Obese Records roster. We’ve heard them all before and some have even worked together in ‘groups’ in the past. Obese Records have finally let the cat out of the bag and told us that Gully Platoon are Joe New, Dialectrix & Pegz, backed by cuts from DJ 2Buck and production by the usual Obese roster.
The 13 track debut album The Great Divide from Gully Platoon is due out August 7th on Obese Records (well duuhh?). Keep your ears to Triple J as they’ve played a track already on home and hosed.
Keep your eyes peeled for more order information.

production is NUTS! Raps is CRAZY! Full of more ill joints than Michael J Fox, marfucker!
While they may not have been my exact choice of words, i’m sure this is going to be another fine mark on the Australian Hip Hop release timeline just like Boomtown. The Optimen’s album The Out Of Money Experience is due for release on July 31st on Red Tape Entertainment, distributed through Shogun Distribution.
