Coming straight out of Hobart (or the Gold Coast now it may seem) is mdusu dropping a free mixtape titled The Excess Baggage Mixtape, who you may know from mdusu&dameza and Heads of State. mdusu explains on his MySpace blog that this mixtape was basically a vehicle to help him get some things off his chest and put them in the past; music, especially hip hop is great for this kind of thing.
It seems the hip hop industry in Australia is full of freebies at the moment and the first i’m going to talk about is the offering from Crate Cartel. Geko drops a free EP titled The Appointment, which is basically the end result of a weekend spent in the studio with Doc Savage in early 2009 and some extra remixes by Jase. 9 tracks (including the remixes) of Crate Cartel hip hop, direct from Melbourne, Australia that you can get free of charge
Due to the unfortunate bankruptcy of their distributor, the lads at Nine High are left high and dry with a dead distribution deal and no doubt a whole slew of problems that come with such an issue. But in the face of it all they’re smiling and offering you their entire album online for free.
