Spitshine, the third album from Urthboy is touted as being “an audacious record packed with punch and finesse” and if the MySpace preview is anything to go by, theres a real element of truth to that statement.  Due out August 28th, Spitshine features guest spots from Lior, Jane Tyrrell (from The Herd), Solo (from Horrorshow), Nay (The Last Kinection), Mantra (Illzilla), Mark Pearl (featured on other Urthboy tracks) and Nat DunnGrab spitshine from iTunes Now!

Urthboy will be touring to all major capital cities and some larger country towns (guess no one loves hip hop in Darwin?) from 24th September through to November 14th.  Touring with recent Elefant Traks signing Horrorshow, Melbourne’s electro influenced Polo Club, Elgusto from Hermitude and The Herd‘s Jane Tyrrell the Urthboy live show is billed as being an energetic and theatrical performance and if previous shows from Elefant Trak’s artists are anything to go by, it wont dissapoint.

Urthboy has put his new album Spitshine on MySpace for all to hear and preview prior to it’s release next Friday (28th August) on Elefant Traks.  It’s just another smooth and simple marketing move from a man that seems to understand the way music marketing works in the digital age of 2009.  The marketing hit for the album has been going on for at least 2 months now slowly winding up to next week, it all seems so simple too, but it works.  I’m not sure how long this is going to be up there for, so i suggest you get your mouse and headphones over to Urthboy’s MySpace and listen to Spitshine.

So I missed posting this one when it first came out, truth be told my heads just been somewhere else lately. Urthboy is bringing a really good minimal internet marketing campaign to his new album, the album Spitshine but the suspense has been building for months. Part of his little “campaign” was some YouTube videos that spends a few days with Urthy & crew as they record the Spitshine album old school. Recording studios are so 1990, you can make killer recordings in a better environment, Urthboy prooves that here.  Check it below.
